At first glance, it might seem that comparing the YangWang U8L hybrid giant to the Tesla Model Y compact electric crossover is like comparing an off-road SUV to a city hatchback. But for Ukrainian drivers, the lines between classes have long been blurred. We are looking not only for "electric" or "luxury", but for something that can withstand pits, snow, knee-deep puddles and still allow you to conveniently charge or refuel on the road. So let's compare these two cars in a fair way - taking into account real-world use in Ukraine.
We remind you that you can purchase home and commercial charging stations in our online storeand also use the public charging stations ECOFACTORcharging points located throughout Ukraine. For convenient access to charging infrastructure, we recommend using our mobile applicationwhich is available on iOS and Android.
Sizes: when "big" means really big
The Tesla Model Y is a mid-size crossover. It is 4.79 metres long, 1.98 metres wide, and 1.62 metres high. This means that it feels confident in urban environments: you can park in a standard place, drive into a narrow courtyard and not worry that the mirrors will hit the fence.
The YangWang U8L, on the other hand, looks like a real giant. At 5.4 metres long and more than 2 metres wide, it is closer to the dimensions of a Range Rover LWB or Cadillac Escalade. The wheelbase of 3.25 metres provides space even for the third row of seats. It's hard to imagine it in tight car parks, but for highway or country trips, this format is a pure pleasure.
Salon: two philosophies of space
Tesla Model Y: a minimum of excess
Inside the Model Y, everything is built around a single 15-inch screen that replaces the dashboard, climate control and even buttons. For some, such minimalism is the embodiment of modernity, for others it seems too "empty". But the fact remains: Tesla creates a clean space without distractions, where functionality is the main thing.
With five seats, a huge boot (854 litres in the rear and 117 litres in the front), a smart heat pump heating system and high-quality acoustics, most drivers will find this to be more than enough.
YangWang U8L: business class comfort
Everything is different here. Inside, there are three screens in the front, another for the rear passengers, wooden inlays, premium leather and even decorative elements made of 24-carat gold. This is not a joke or a marketing gimmick: there is a real demand for luxury parts with real gold in China.
The 2+2+2 seating formula makes the cabin look like a private jet. The seats in both rows have heating, ventilation, massage and even heated armrests. The second-row passengers have a separate monitor for climate, multimedia and seat position control.
The U8L is not just a car, it is a space for relaxation and demonstration of status. While Model Y is aimed at those who drive themselves, U8L is for those who are driven.

Power and technology
Tesla Model Y: classic electrics
Tesla is pure electricity without compromise. The 60 kWh battery provides a realistic range of around 375 km. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 5.9 seconds and the top speed is 201 km/h.
It uses LFP batteries from CATL, which are known for their durability and stability even at low temperatures. Charging is possible from a standard wall outlet, a home wallbox or a fast DC station with a capacity of up to 175 kW, where the 10-80% can be charged in approximately 24 minutes.
Tesla is all about the technology inside: autopilot, over-the-air updates, a mobile app, and constant software development. But there is no "excess power" in it - it is about efficiency, not luxury.
YangWang U8L: power without compromise
The U8L uses a plug-in hybrid system: under the bonnet, there is a 2-litre turbo engine that recharges the battery and four electric motors - one for each wheel. Together, they produce 1180 hp and 1280 Nm of torque.
These are crazy numbers even in the world of supercars. Acceleration to 100 km/h is 3.6 seconds, which is faster than Tesla Model Y and even some Porsches. The total range in combined mode is up to 1000 km.
But the most important thing is the unique capabilities of the control system: The U8L can turn its rear wheels, move sideways or even rotate in place. And the most interesting thing is that it can swim, using electric motors to move in the water.
Off-road capabilities
Ukrainian roads, especially outside of large cities, clearly show that "off-road" is not just the Carpathians or a field.
The Tesla Model Y has a medium ground clearance and is not designed for difficult conditions. Yes, it can drive on dirt or snowy roads, but this is not its element. It should be protected from high curbs, sharp stones and water.
The YangWang U8L, on the other hand, is designed for just such conditions. Its Disus-P air suspension allows you to adjust the ground clearance from 180 to 230 mm. Thanks to the independent control of all wheels, the car can literally "crawl" on stones. And in the mode of overcoming water obstacles, the electronics seal the body and allow you to move on the surface of the water - up to 30 minutes.
In short: Tesla for asphalt, YangWang for everything else.

Energy consumption and practicality
| Parameter. | Tesla Model Y | YangWang U8L |
| Drive type | electro | plug-in hybrid |
| Power | 220 kW | 880 kW |
| Power reserve | 375 km | 1000 km |
| Acceleration 0-100 km/h | 5.9 с | 3.6 с |
| DC charging | up to 175 kW | depending on the station |
| Energy consumption | 160 Watt-hours/km | not specified |
| Mass | ~2000 kg | almost 3000 kg |
Tesla wins here in simplicity. It can be charged from a regular network without the need for complex maintenance. The U8L, on the other hand, has a complex system, but it compensates for this with a range and independence from charging infrastructure.

Charging infrastructure for YangWang and Tesla in Ukraine: how we at ECOFACTOR help drivers
At ECOFACTOR, we work every day to ensure that electric vehicles, whether it's a Tesla Model Y or the new YangWang U8L hybrid, can drive comfortably in Ukraine. And although these two models are very different, they both have one common need - a reliable connection to the charging infrastructure.
For some, it is exclusively electricity, for others, it is a hybrid system with a socket. In any case, charging remains a key issue. We understand this and therefore create solutions that are adapted to different formats, needs and budgets.
What we offer to drivers of electric vehicles
Charging stations for home, business and large networks
We independently develop and manufacture charging stations alternating current (AC up to 44 kW) and direct current (DC up to 420 kW). This allows us to fully control the quality and compatibility of the equipment. Our stations are suitable for both Tesla and other brands of electric vehicles, including hybrid models such as YangWang.
Network management platform
If you are an operator or plan to develop your own charging network, we have the solution. Our SaaS platform allows you to manage stations, monitor consumption, flexibly adjust tariffs and add new points to the map without any difficulties. We currently have over 3500 active charging ports on the platform, serving thousands of drivers every month.
The app for drivers under iOS and Android
Drivers can use the ECOFACTOR EV Charging mobile app to find the nearest station, check its status, start charging and pay for sessions. The app offers an interactive map of charging stations throughout Ukraine - with filters, a user-friendly interface and up-to-date data.
Online store of cables, adapters and accessories
In our online store you will find not only the most charging stationsThe system is equipped with all the necessary accessories: type 2 cables, adapters between different connectors, RFID cards, holders, adapters for industrial sockets, and even mobile charging kits. This is important for both Tesla owners and new models like the U8L, which may have non-standard ports or use cases.
If you're currently deciding between two cars from different worlds, remember: charging is not the problem. With us, it's part of the solution.

Who is each of them for
Tesla Model Y is suitable for those who live in a city or suburb with a charging infrastructure and who value simplicity, stability and economy in everyday use. It is a car for those who appreciate quiet, comfortable and environmentally friendly transport and do not need to regularly go off-road or travel difficult routes.
YangWang U8L, on the other hand, will be chosen by those who want to have something rare, technological and noticeable on the road. It is suitable for drivers who often travel out of town or on difficult routes, do not want to constantly think about charging the battery and at the same time expect a level of comfort close to business class from their car, with maximum space and functions.
Conclusions.
Tesla Model Y and YangWang U8L are like two different worlds that sometimes intersect on Ukrainian roads. One is simple, electric, already familiar and understandable to many drivers. The other is new, powerful, technically sophisticated and not at all ordinary. You should choose between them not only by price or brand, but also by your lifestyle. If daily city commuting, charging at night from a power outlet, and peace of mind are your priorities, Tesla looks like a rational choice. But if you're more likely to go outdoors, you're not afraid of winter, and the lack of a charging station on the road doesn't cause panic, then U8L can become a real friend.
Ultimately, each of these cars answers the question that arises in the minds of every electric motorist every day in its own way: "Will I have enough charge?" And here the main thing is not only to choose a car, but also to be sure that the infrastructure will support any decision. That's why we at ECOFACTOR continue to develop charging stations, apps, and an online accessories store to make the Ukrainian electric vehicle environment more convenient for everyone - both those who are already charging and those who are still choosing.
Frequently asked questions
How does the YangWang U8L charge and what is a hybrid with a power outlet?
The U8L has e4 technology, which is a plug-in hybrid that runs on electric power but has a petrol engine generator to recharge the battery on the road. That is, even if there is no access to a charging station, the car will be able to move on thanks to the internal combustion engine. This is important for long-distance travel and situations where there is no place to charge the car.
Is the ground clearance of the Tesla Model Y enough for trips out of town?
The Model Y has a decent ground clearance for an electric crossover - about 17 cm - and all-wheel drive in some versions. This allows you to drive on dirt roads, but serious off-road or deep pits are still best left to models such as the U8L, which has air suspension and much higher ground clearance.
Will servicing YangWang U8L be a problem in Ukraine?
At the moment, there is no official support for the YangWang brand in Ukraine. Spare parts, diagnostics, and updates can be more difficult than with Tesla, which has an active community, OTA support, and a wider presence in Europe. But given the interest in Chinese cars, the situation is gradually changing.
Which model is better suited for everyday use in the city?
The Tesla Model Y is better suited for daily commuting thanks to its more compact size, simpler interface, lower energy consumption and faster charging. The U8L is more focused on comfort, unique features, and travelling on complex routes - it may seem too big for city traffic.
Can the YangWang U8L really swim? Is it a joke?
No, it's not a joke. The U8L has a shallow water mode thanks to its sealed hull, electric drive for each wheel and powerful software control. But this is an emergency function, not a boat replacement. It should only be used when absolutely necessary - for example, to get through a flooded area.
