General characteristics of the models
Tesla Model Y Standard Range
This is an updated version of Tesla's most popular crossover with a 50 kWh battery (40 kWh usable capacity) and rear-wheel drive. It has a real-world range of 255 km, consuming an average of 157 Wh/km, which is equivalent to approximately 1.8 l/100 km. The car accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and has a top speed of 200 km/h.
Geely Galaxy E5
Based on the GEA platform, this electric crossover uses a 60.22 kWh battery (LiFePO4) and can cover up to 530 km on the Chinese CLTC cycle. The 218 hp engine with 320 Nm of torque provides acceleration to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. Geely relies on energy efficiency - only 12.1 kWh/100 km, which corresponds to about 121 Wh/km, i.e. 20-25% lower than Tesla.

Table of characteristics: Power consumption and range
| Criterion. | Geely Galaxy E5 | Tesla Model Y Standard Range |
| Useful battery capacity | 60.22 kWh | 40 kWh |
| Power reserve (real) | ~400-450 km*. | 255 km |
| Energy consumption | 121 W/km | 157 Watt-hours/km |
| Efficiency (city, warm weather) | 105 W/km | 151 W/km |
| Performance (highway, cold weather) | 222 W-ppl/km (estimated) | 222 W/km |
| Battery type | LiFePO4 | Li-ion |
| Architecture | 400 В | 400 В |
*The CLTC cycle overestimates the data, so the real figure in mixed mode is closer to 400 km.
Performance and handling
Tesla traditionally focuses on dynamics. It has a power output of 150 kW and rear-wheel drive, which provides a lightning-fast response to the accelerator pedal. Acceleration is smooth, but noticeably more aggressive than in the Geely. The Tesla's suspension is stiffer, so the crossover holds up better on the highway, but comfort is slightly lower on city potholes.
Geely Galaxy E5 is more focused on daily use. Its front-wheel drive and multi-link rear suspension provide a soft ride and stability. At the same time, acceleration is almost as fast - 6.9 seconds versus 6.2 for Tesla. The car dampens bumps better, and the steering wheel is lighter, which is convenient in the city.
Charging: speed and convenience
Tesla Model Y supports charging up to 100 kW (DC) and 11 kW (AC). Charging from 10 to 80% takes about 21 minutes, and the speed during the session reaches 510 km/h. A typical charge at home takes approximately 4.5 hours.
According to Auto-Data.net, the Geely Galaxy E5 has a standard LiFePO4 battery that supports fast charging to 80% in about 30 minutes. Due to the larger battery capacity, it takes longer to fully charge, but compensates for this with a higher range.
Real energy consumption
The difference between laboratory and real-world performance is particularly noticeable in winter.
Tesla Model Y Standard Range:
- City, warm weather - 105 W-ppl/km
- Highway, warm weather - 170 W-ha/km
- Cold weather - up to 222 W-min/km
- Average combined cycle - 157 W-ha/km
Geely Galaxy E5:
- Officially, 12.1 kWh/100 km (121 W-ppl)
- Realistically, in cold weather, about 150-170 W-ha/km
- In the city, it's 20-25% more economical, especially thanks to the larger battery and optimised regeneration
Practicality and size
| Criterion. | Geely Galaxy E5 | Tesla Model Y |
| Length | 4615 mm | 4751 mm |
| Width | 1901 mm | 1921 mm |
| Height | 1670 mm | 1624 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2750 mm | 2890 mm |
| Mass | 1655-1740 kg | 1700 kg |
| Trunk | 461-1877 л | up to 1900 litres |
| Number of seats | 5 | 5 |
The Geely is slightly shorter, which makes it more comfortable in the city, but the interior space is quite competitive. The Tesla has a slightly larger boot, although the difference is not significant. Both cars have folding seats and a flat floor, so they are suitable for long journeys or family trips.

Security.
Tesla Model Y has received high results in Euro NCAP tests:
- Adult safety - 97%
- Child safety - 87%
- Pedestrian protection - 79%
- Assistance systems - 98%
The Geely Galaxy E5 has not yet been tested by Euro NCAP, but its body is built using high-strength steel and has an independent suspension and 6 airbags as standard.
Tesla, thanks to its advanced driver assistance system (auto-braking, adaptive cruise, sign recognition), still holds the advantage in safety.
Comfort and technology
The Geely Galaxy E5 offers an interior that combines modern technology with pleasant ergonomics. The focus is on two large displays that provide convenient control of multimedia, navigation and car settings. The proprietary Galaxy N OS operating system is fast and intuitive, and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as voice control. Ventilated seats, a panoramic roof and high-quality materials create a premium feel even in the mid-range price segment.
Tesla Model Y, in turn, is known for its minimalist interior. The entire interaction with the car is reduced to a 15-inch central screen, which controls almost all functions, from climate to autopilot. Tesla supports regular OTA updates, even for the battery and suspension, so the car becomes even more efficient over time. At the same time, the system is closed: integration with iOS and Android is limited, which may not appeal to users accustomed to universal compatibility.
Operational features
Both crossovers are designed for five passengers and are suitable for daily use. The Tesla has an advantage in terms of visibility thanks to its large glass area and low roof profile. The seats support your back well, and the rear row offers plenty of legroom. The Geely Galaxy E5, on the other hand, provides a more comfortable ride thanks to its higher body position and softer suspension, which is especially noticeable on uneven roads or when driving in the city.
Tesla is traditionally strong in digital technology: most systems receive updates over the air, including autopilot, battery pack, and navigation. In the Geely Galaxy E5, OTA updates so far concern mainly the multimedia system, but the manufacturer is actively expanding the functionality of this technology. As a result, Tesla remains the leader in flexibility and self-diagnostics, while Geely takes revenge in comfort, fit, and smoothness.

Long journeys
The Tesla Model Y Standard Range has a 1.5/5 rating for long journeys. It can cover about 184 km before the first charging stop, and after a 15-minute pause, it can cover another 113 km - a total of almost 300 km.
The Geely Galaxy E5 has a range of about 400 km in real-world conditions, so it requires fewer stops. However, due to the lack of a global network of fast charging stations, Tesla's advantage on long routes remains noticeable.
