Zeekr X vs Tesla Model Y: a fair comparison for the Ukrainian market

Electric cars on Ukrainian roads are no longer a novelty. Tesla has become a symbol of the new car era, but in 2025, new players, including Chinese brands, are confidently entering the game. One of the most notable examples is the Zeekr X, a model from Geely that has already caught the eye of many Ukrainian drivers.

In this article, we'll find out how these two electric crossovers really differ. Not just in terms of price and acceleration, but also in terms of how they behave on the track, how they charge, whether they are comfortable in the city, and how much energy they actually consume. And most importantly, which one will fit better into Ukrainian realities.

Battery performance and range

The Zeekr X has 49 kWh of usable battery capacity, while the Tesla Model Y has more - 60 kWh.

Real power reserve

• Zeekr XReal combined range in warm weather is up to 310 km and 230 km in cold weather.
• Tesla Model Y: has a higher range of 440 km in warm weather and 315 km in winter.

The Tesla, thanks to its better energy efficiency (158 Watt-hours/km versus 181 for the Zeekr), gets more distance on each charge. This is important, especially for long-distance travel, when every 20-30 km can make the difference.

Charging in Ukrainian conditions

When charging infrastructure is still being developed, charging speed is of particular importance. There are some unexpected differences between these two cars.

Alternating current (AC)

• Zeekr X supports AC charging up to 11 kW. This means that the three-phase wallbox can fully charge a car in about 5 hours and 15 minutes.
• Tesla Model Y also has a built-in 11 kW limiter, but charges more slowly - 6.5 hours.

If you have a powerful wallbox at home or at work, Zeekr X will be more profitable here. Tesla charges faster only on superchargers or powerful DC stations.

Fast charging (DC)

• Zeekr X accepts up to 130 kW DC, 10-80% in 31 minutes.
• Tesla Model Y can take up to 175 kW, but the average power is kept at 110 kW. The charging time is shorter - about 24 minutes.

Although both models have the same 200 kW (272 hp) and rear-wheel drive, their behaviour on the road is completely different. This is a case where the dry figures in the specifications do not give a complete picture of how a car feels when you drive it.

Acceleration and power

• Tesla Model Y: 0-100 km/h in 7.2 seconds

The Zeekr X is clearly designed for driving. Its accelerator pedal is responsive, the response is instantaneous, and the dynamics make it easy to manoeuvre in dense city traffic or accelerate sharply when leaving a secondary road. 

Tesla Model Y, while not slow, is more restrained. Its acceleration is smoother, with a less aggressive response to the pedal. This gives the impression of a calmer, more predictable ride, which will suit those who value comfort and a soft ride more than thrills. This is especially noticeable on wet pavement or when starting on slippery asphalt, where Tesla is less prone to slippage.

Handling in the city and on the road

The Zeekr X feels confident in the city thanks to its compact size and quick steering response. Its turning radius is smaller, manoeuvring in tight parking spaces is easier, and street driving is not tiring even after hours in traffic. The suspension is a little stiffer, but this also provides better feedback to the driver.

The Tesla Model Y shows a different side on the track. It is more stable at high speeds, holds a straight line better, and noise insulation makes it easier to drive hundreds of kilometres. You can clearly feel that this car is designed not only for the city, but also for long journeys with family or luggage.

Dimensions, weight and comfort

Dimensions are important, especially when it comes to parking in the city centre or exiting narrow courtyards.

Tesla is larger and wins due to the volume of the trunk. If you carry a lot of things or have a large family, this is an obvious option. But Zeekr X is more compact and better suited for the city.

Interior and equipment

The interior of both cars speaks for itself. Tesla Model Y, like all models of the brand, adheres to almost ascetic minimalism. There is no traditional dashboard or physical buttons in the cabin. Everything is controlled through a large 15-inch central screen that combines multimedia, climate control, car settings, and even speed display. This solution is not for everyone, but it definitely creates a sense of the future, where every inch of the cabin is subject to the logic of purity and simplicity. Tesla also has a powerful audio system with 14 speakers, heated seats both in the front and rear, and even a heated steering wheel, which is an important bonus for Ukrainian winters.

Zeekr X has a different approach to the interior. It has more in common with traditional European cars, albeit with a modern twist. The central 14.6-inch screen is also responsible for all the main functions, but unlike Tesla, the interface is not so monolithic and allows for a little more customisation. The biggest advantage of Zeekr is its support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which makes life much easier for those who are used to their own smartphone as the main media centre. Tesla doesn't have this, and for many, this is still an incomprehensible limitation. At the same time, the Zeekr X's audio system is more modest - 7 speakers - and seat heating is not always provided as standard, so it's worth checking before buying.

Overall, the Tesla looks more futuristic and laconic, while the Zeekr X is closer to the solutions that most drivers are used to. If you want simplicity, a sense of a "digital home on wheels" and are already adapted to the Tesla ecosystem, you will like the Model Y interior. If flexibility, classic convenience, and support for your smartphone without any fiddling are more important, the Zeekr X will be closer to your needs.

Security and rating

Both the Zeekr X and Tesla Model Y have passed the European crash tests of Euro NCAP with the highest score of five stars. This means that in terms of safety, we are not looking at experimental newcomers, but full-fledged electric vehicles that have passed rigorous tests for impact, passenger protection, and the effectiveness of driver assistants. 

Tesla давно відома своєю увагою до активної безпеки, і в Model Y це відчувається – система автогальмування, розпізнавання дорожніх знаків, контроль втоми водія працюють злагоджено. У Zeekr X ці функції також є, і хоча в реальних умовах вони можуть поводитися трохи інакше, за результатами незалежних тестів – обидва авто варті довіри. Якщо у вас вдома є діти або ви часто возите пасажирів, можете бути спокійні: ці моделі забезпечують надійний рівень безпеки в разі аварії та знижують ризики на дорозі щодня.

Тягово-вантажні можливості

Попри те, що обидві моделі виглядають як типові міські кросовери, вони можуть впоратися з доволі серйозними завданнями. І Tesla Model Y, і Zeekr X офіційно допускають буксирування гальмованого причепа масою до 1600 кг. Це означає, що можна без проблем причепити невеликий трейлер, човен або навіть міні-домик на колесах. Для багатьох водіїв, особливо за межами міста, така можливість справді має значення.

Окрім цього, Tesla пропонує ще один додатковий функціональний плюс – вертикальне навантаження до 72 кг. Йдеться про максимально допустиме навантаження на фаркоп зверху, що дозволяє закріпити велобагажник або платформу для лиж, сноубордів, або навіть вантажну платформу. У випадку з Zeekr X цієї інформації в офіційній документації наразі немає, тому якщо ви плануєте використовувати авто саме в такому форматі, це варто уточнити в дилера.

Також важливо відзначити, що обидві моделі мають підтримку для встановлення фаркопа, а це не завжди стандарт для електрокарів такого класу. У Zeekr X, щоправда, вказано обмеження вертикального навантаження – лише 1 кг. Це виглядає скоріше як технічна формальність, що вказує на відсутність заводської підтримки вертикального навантаження. Інакше кажучи, цей автомобіль більше розрахований на тягу, ніж на монтаж додаткового спорядження згори.

Для українських реалій, де поїздки на дачу, транспортування будівельних матеріалів або сезонне перевезення спорядження – це звичайна справа, такі можливості можуть вплинути на вибір. Tesla тут виглядає трохи універсальніше, але якщо ви не плануєте нічого тягнути – ця різниця навряд чи буде критичною.

Якщо ви живете в місті:

• Zeekr X зручніший для вузьких вулиць, паркування та коротких поїздок

Якщо регулярно їздите трасою:

• Легше знайти зарядну інфраструктуру

Обидві моделі мають чимало плюсів і підходять для різних типів водіїв. Zeekr X може привабити тих, хто хоче щось нове, компактне й зручне. Tesla Model Y усе ще лишається еталоном на ринку електрокросоверів, особливо коли мова йде про дальність і універсальність.

Поки зарядна інфраструктура в Україні зростає, ці два електрокари вже сьогодні можуть відповідати потребам більшості водіїв. Але перед вибором радимо чесно відповісти собі на питання: як часто я їжджу трасами? Чи є у мене зарядка вдома або на роботі? Чи важливий мені CarPlay або інтерфейс Tesla?
