Electric cars in Ukraine have long ceased to be exotic. Some people choose them because of savings, some because of comfort, and some are simply tired of queues at petrol stations. Chinese models are now rapidly gaining popularity, and many of them really offer interesting solutions for adequate money. GAC Aion RT falls into this category. This is not a premium electric sedan and not a pretentious attempt to catch up with the leaders. It is a practical car that develops year after year and offers drivers a set of features suitable for daily use.
The model was updated in 2025: more features were added, the filling was updated, and at the same time, the familiar silhouette was retained. Today, Aion RT looks like a mature product that is based on proven technical solutions and does not try to surprise with its shape alone. Ukrainian drivers are looking for just such a combination: a clear design, efficient electric drive, a fair range and a normal interior without strange experiments. In this article, we'll take a look at the Aion RT from all angles, from its appearance to its real potential in our conditions.
We remind you that you can purchase home and commercial charging stations in our online storeand also use the public charging stations ECOFACTORcharging points located throughout Ukraine. For convenient access to charging infrastructure, we recommend using our mobile applicationwhich is available on iOS and Android.
Appearance and first impression
Chinese manufacturers have long since moved away from the stage of copying, and now each brand is developing its own style. In the case of the Aion RT, these are streamlined lines, the absence of unnecessary decorative inserts and a minimum of sharp transitions. The front end is made in the style of new generation electric vehicles: a closed panel instead of a traditional grille, a smooth transition to narrow optics, and a built-in LiDAR that does not cut the eye at all.
The body shape can be described as a combination of a saloon and a fastback. From the side, you can see the slight slope of the rear end and the smooth roof lines, which provide less air resistance. It is no coincidence that GAC constantly emphasises this: The RT has a drag coefficient of around 0.24-0.25 Cd, which is a very good figure even against more expensive models. The lower the drag, the less energy is used to overcome the air and the greater the range in practice.
Details that shape character
There are a few little things that immediately catch your eye:
- concealed door handles
- blacked-out window frames
- sporty air intakes in the front bumper
- charging port located on the front fender
These elements create a modern look, but without being too aggressive. The Aion RT looks neither sporty nor family-friendly, but rather versatile, which is a plus for the Ukrainian market.

Interior: a space that feels modern, but without being overdone
Dashboard and centre screen
The RT cabin is built in a minimalist style. There are no unnecessary buttons, excessive lighting or solutions that look nice in photos but get in the way in real life. Instead, we have:
- dashboard screen
- multimedia display
The interface is based on the ADiGO 5.0 platform, which is reminiscent of modern tablets: large elements, convenient icons, and fast response.
Ergonomics and feel in the cabin
The console has a multi-level design. The upper part is occupied by the screen, below are the ventilation holes, and even lower is the wireless charging area and organisers for small items. The interior is designed in light or darker colours depending on the equipment. All materials look neat, without feeling cheap.
There is one on the second row:
- separate ventilation deflectors
- armrest
- sufficient legroom
The interior is not luxurious, but it is mature and practical. It's easy to navigate and enjoy your time on the road.
Standalone systems: one of the model's strongest points
One of the key features of the Aion RT is its autonomous driving system:
- 126-line LiDAR (top versions)
- Nvidia Orin-X chip (top versions)
- a highly accurate set of sensors
In total, they provide 254 TOPS of computing power. In simple terms, this is the ability to process huge amounts of data in real time.
Another feature of the model is the ability to drive even where there are no accurate maps. The system uses fourth-generation algorithms and builds an understanding of the road based on sensor data. In real-world conditions, this means that the car drives confidently:
- old routes without markings
- yards
- repair areas
- small towns, where road infrastructure is often conditional
This is very relevant for Ukraine, as not all roads have markings and navigation maps are not always updated.

Power and battery life
CATL batteries
This is another strong argument in favour of RT. The model uses CATL lithium-iron-phosphate batteries, which have long proven to be among the most reliable on the market. These batteries are distinguished by stable performance, a high level of safety, resistance to wear and tear, and slower degradation even after many charging cycles. For the driver, this means a predictable range over the years, less chance of overheating and overall more relaxed driving in all conditions. Two variants are available:
- 55.1 kWh
- 68.1 kWh
Power reserve
- up to 520 km for the younger version
- up to 650 km for the older
These are laboratory values, but even if we take into account the realities, we can safely expect them:
- 350-420 km in the city
- 270-330 km on the road
This is more than enough for most trips.
Consumption.
- 11.7 kWh per 100 km
- 11.9 kWh per 100 km
Even if in real life it is 14-15, this is still a good result.
Charging: the speed that really saves time
When it comes to charging, the GAC Aion RT is very confident. The model supports 3C fast charging technology, which operates on a 400V platform and uses silicon carbide cells. This is not just a marketing phrase, but a real advantage that can be felt in daily use. This is especially important in winter, when the charging performance of many electric vehicles drops significantly.
Most notably, the battery can be recharged from 30 to 80% in around 30 minutes. This means that even during a short stop for a coffee or a quick snack, the range is restored to a level sufficient for another few hundred kilometres. If you have even less time, 10 minutes is enough to get an additional 160-200 km. In real-life city-to-city journeys, this really helps you plan your route without any worries.
Charging speed is important not only on the highway. In the city, this feature allows you to adjust your charging to your schedule and not have to worry about standing at the station for longer than you want. Thanks to this technology, Aion RT feels comfortable both in the daily rhythm and on long journeys, where time is sometimes more valuable than kilometres.

ECOFACTOR: our role in the daily use of electric vehicles like the GAC Aion RT
When we talk about electric cars on Ukrainian roads, it is important to look not only at the car itself, but also at how convenient it is to charge it, what stations are nearby, whether you can quickly find the right connector and whether it will be really easy to use in real life. At ECOFACTOR, we are working to make it easier for owners of electric cars, including models such as the GAC Aion RT, to move around the country without unnecessary worries.
We create and produce charging stations of different capacities, from mobile solutions to AC models up to 44 kW and powerful DC stations up to 420 kW. All devices are designed and manufactured in Ukraine, following the technical standards of the industry. For owners of electric vehicles, especially those that support fast charging, this means the ability to use stations that operate stably in our climate conditions and have predictable safety characteristics.
We have online shopwhere we offer cables and adapters, adapters, holders and other accessories that allow for flexible use of different types of charging. This can be useful if the Aion RT owner wants to have an extra cable, adapter or adapter at home for charging in different locations.
How we help electric car owners in everyday life
We are developing one of the largest networks of charging stations in Ukraine and offer it to drivers:
- mobile application for iOS and Android
- map of charging stations with up-to-date statuses
- the ability to pay for charging and monitor sessions in real time
- support in case of technical issues
For drivers who are considering switching to an electric vehicle or are already driving one on a daily basis, it is important to have the basic infrastructure at their fingertips. That's why we develop solutions that cover the entire cycle: from purchasing a charging station for your home or business to using the public network and accessing an online store with cables and accessories.
Dynamics and handling
Two engine options are available:
- 150 kW
- 165 kW
These are not sporty settings, but there is enough dynamics for confident overtaking and driving in high-speed mode. The car responds quickly to the pedal and does not create acceleration "dips".
Comfort on Ukrainian roads
The suspension is set up in a mixed manner:
- It is quite mild for a city,
- but not too much at speed.
It won't hide deep pits, but overall, the balance is well struck. Even if you have to drive on the access road to the dacha, the car will not "crumble in your hands".

Multimedia and connectivity
In the Aion RT, the multimedia system works not as a separate element, but as a logical part of the entire interior. The central screen is large, clear and responsive, so it's a pleasure to use even on the go. The interface is based on the ADiGO 5.0 platform, which feels closer to a tablet than a classic car system. The menu looks neat, and the main functions are located where you intuitively expect them.
It has everything a modern driver needs: support for smartphones, up-to-date navigation services, music applications and the ability to update the system over the air. OTA updates allow you to get improvements and new features without visiting a service centre, which is especially convenient when the manufacturer is quick to respond to user needs.
When it comes to sound, the RT is a pleasant surprise. The 5.1 audio system with 11 speakers and an 8-inch subwoofer creates a surround sound that does not feel like something secondary or "for show". For a car in this price category, this is more than you'd expect. Music sounds rich, loud dialogues in podcasts do not cut your ears, and deep frequencies are transmitted carefully and without excessive vibration.
As a result, the Aion RT multimedia system looks not just modern, but thoughtful. It does not try to impress with spectacular animations, but does what it is supposed to do: help you drive, navigate and spend time on the road more comfortably.
Who is suitable for GAC Aion RT
This model is a good choice if you are looking for
- an economical electric car with a fair range
- modern autonomous driving technologies
- restrained and thoughtful design
- adequate price
- a car for daily trips around the city and intercity
Less suitable for those who want to
- premium interior
- sports dynamics
- significant ground clearance
Conclusions.
The GAC Aion RT is a solid electric sedan that doesn't chase after loud titles. It offers a clear design, a well-thought-out interior, technologies that really work, and a range that won't make you nervous on the road. The autonomous driving system with LiDAR looks serious and can be the main advantage of the model in our market.
In the context of Ukraine, the Aion RT looks attractive. It is not pretentious, not too expensive, and at the same time offers functionality that is usually available in much more expensive cars. If the model appears in domestic showrooms, it will definitely find a buyer among those who want to switch to electrics without overpaying for the brand.
Frequently asked questions
Is it possible to get the power reserve that the manufacturer claims?
In most cases, yes, but adjusted for temperature and driving style. In the city, the Aion RT behaves quite economically, and even in winter, you can keep the figures at a level that does not break the schedule. On the highway, the figures are slightly lower, which is natural for any electric vehicle. But even in a mixed cycle, the range is stress-free and allows you to plan your trips without any extra maths.
Does the RT have enough power for overtaking on the track?
Yes, and you can feel it from the first kilometres. The car is not sporty, but the pedal response is quick, and the acceleration is enough for confident manoeuvres. Even in the junior version, the dynamics are more than enough for a normal Kyiv-Odesa highway or any intercity.
How does multimedia behave in everyday use?
It works quickly and without freezing. The interface is really well designed for the usual scenarios: you plan a route, turn on the music, connect your phone and drive on. Even if you switch between apps, the system doesn't start to think or freeze, which is often the case with inexpensive electric cars.
