The Kia EV6 is an electric car with a good range and very fast charging support. But even such technology does not reach its potential if you do not know where and how to charge it. Especially if you do not live in the centre of the capital.
In this article, we'll look at the most important things: what types of charging the Kia EV6 supports, how long it takes to charge, what it looks like at home and in public places, and what to look for in Ukrainian conditions.
We remind you that you can purchase home and commercial charging stations in our online storeand also use the public charging stations ECOFACTORcharging points located throughout Ukraine. For convenient access to charging infrastructure, we recommend using our mobile applicationwhich is available on iOS and Android.
Kia EV6 charging basics
Before we get down to practice, it's worthwhile to understand a little bit about how charging an electric vehicle works in general. There are three levels of charging that differ in speed and convenience:
- Charging from a power outlet (Level 1): The slowest but most affordable option is a regular 220V household outlet. A full charge of the Kia EV6 can take over 30 hours. Suitable only for home night charging with very low daily mileage.
- AC charging (Level 2): The Kia EV6 can be charged with up to 11 kW via a Type 2 port, which is available at most public AC stations. In practice, charging takes 6-8 hours. This is the most convenient option for daily use in the city.
- DC fast charging: The fastest way is via DC charging stations. The EV6 supports charging up to 240 kW, and at such stations, you can charge the 80% in just 18-20 minutes. There are not many such powerful stations in Ukraine yet, but they are available in Kyiv, on the Kyiv-Lviv highway, in Lviv, Dnipro, and Odesa.
Kia EV6 charging options: what the car can do
Battery capacity
The Kia EV6 is available in two battery options - 60 kWh (Standard Range) and 80 kWh (Long Range). In Ukraine, the long-range version with a longer range prevails.
In 2022, a sporty GT version was also introduced, which also has an 80 kWh battery but a more powerful engine. The GT accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds - just like a sports car - and charges in the same way as the Long Range.
Maximum charging speeds of the Kia EV6: AC and DC
When it comes to charging, the Kia EV6 has a lot to offer and supports a variety of connection options, including:
- AC charging: For AC charging, which is typically used at home or at public stations with a Type 2 connector, the Kia EV6 can accept up to 11 kW. This allows you to conveniently charge your car overnight or while parked at the office - a full cycle takes approximately 6-8 hours, depending on the specific equipment.
- DC fast charging: The true potential of the EV6 is revealed when using direct current. Thanks to its modern 800-volt architecture, the car supports a peak power output of up to 240 kW. In real-world conditions in Ukraine, stations with a capacity of 50-160 kW are most often found, which allows the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in about 18-25 minutes. Such charging stations are already available in Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Odesa, Kharkiv, and on key highways.

Recovery and V2L function: additional features of the EV6
In addition to the standard charging methods, the Kia EV6 has several other features that make it easier to use:
- Recuperation: This system allows for partial energy recovery during braking and deceleration. The electric vehicle automatically converts kinetic energy into battery power. This not only reduces the load on the braking system, but also helps to extend the range, especially in a city with frequent stops. The level of recovery can be adjusted manually.
- Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function: The EV6 can not only charge but also supply electricity. With the help of a special adapter, the car can provide up to 3.6 kW of power, which is enough to run household appliances, laptops, lighting or even charge another electric car. This is useful when travelling, camping or as a backup power supply during power outages.
The Kia EV6 is not only about saving on charging, but also about enhanced opportunities in everyday life. And although not all of the features are used every day, when they are needed, it is a great pleasure to have them.
Kia EV6: charging at home in Ukraine
For the majority of Kia EV6 owners, home charging is becoming the main way to replenish the battery. It is convenient, predictable and much cheaper than charging at public stations. Connect the car in the evening and the car is ready to go in the morning.
With AC charging capacities of up to 11 kW, the EV6 fits perfectly into your daily routine. And with the right equipment, charging is as easy as charging your phone.
The most convenient home chargers for EV6 in Ukraine
When choosing a home charging station, you should focus on your driving pattern, the availability of nighttime tariffs and the location of the installation. Among the devices that are well suited for Kia EV6 and are already available in Ukraine are the following:
- ECOFACTOR Home 11 kW: Reliable Ukrainian charging with a simple interface and built-in protection. It works stably and is well suited to nighttime tariffs.
- TeltoCharge (Lithuania): It has Wi-Fi, a user-friendly mobile app and remote control. Suitable for those who want more control and statistics.
- Wallbox Pulsar Plus: It is compact, stylish, supports power control and is compatible with a smart home. Although more expensive, it is one of the most popular among enthusiasts.
Charging time and cost
How long it takes to charge depends on the power of the station and the type of battery:
- 7 kW: ~10-11 hours to full charge
- 11 kW: ~6-7 hours
In terms of costs, everything is very simple. If you use the night tariff (approximately UAH 1.68/kWh), then charging a 77.4 kWh battery will cost about UAH 130. This is much more profitable than refuelling with any fuel.
Charging Kia EV6 in public places
For Kia EV6 drivers who are often on the move or do not have a home charging point, public charging stations are a staple of everyday car use. There are more and more of them in big cities, along highways and near popular locations such as shopping centres, business parks, petrol stations and car parks.
All stations are divided by type and power. The most common are AC charging stations with a capacity of up to 22 kW and DC fast charging stations with a capacity of 50 to 160 kW. The Kia EV6 supports both, so in most cases there are no compatibility issues.
Public charging is usually more expensive than home charging, but it has its advantages - especially when you're on the move or travelling for long periods of time. If you use public stations frequently, it's worth subscribing to a subscription or using apps that provide access to multiple networks with favourable rates.

Main public charging networks in Ukraine
Public charging infrastructure is developing rapidly in Ukraine. There are several key players that EV6 owners are already actively using:
- ECOFACTOR: is one of the largest networks in Ukraine. We offer both AC and powerful DC stations up to 160 kW. Convenient mobile application, support for contactless payment, frequent map updates.
- AutoEnterprise: has thousands of charging points across the country. They are often found in car parks near supermarkets and petrol stations. They support charging cards and NFC.
- TOKA: focuses on urban infrastructure. There are many stations near offices, shopping malls, and new buildings. Supports payment through the app.
- ChargeUa: a rapidly growing network that includes partner charging stations from different regions. You can filter stations by type and capacity.
