The YangWang U8L is not just another electric model. This is a large, smart and completely unusual SUV that is trying to move the premium SUV segment forward. And it does so in the Chinese way - through power, size and technology, not through a big name on the hood.

The idea is simple: give the driver everything at once. All-wheel drive, 1,180 horsepower, air suspension, a driving mode on water, three lidars, dozens of screens and even gold trim elements. But despite the flashy equipment, there is a real technical interest behind it all. And if we abstract from the shiny details, we are looking at a very interesting attempt to create something of our own in a world that has so far been dominated by the Germans and the British.

We remind you that you can purchase home and commercial charging stations in our online storeand also use the public charging stations ECOFACTORcharging points located throughout Ukraine. For convenient access to charging infrastructure, we recommend using our mobile applicationwhich is available on iOS and Android.

Dimensions and body: more than just big

YangWang U8L is not just a long version of the regular U8. It is a standalone model that demonstrates how far Chinese premium can go in an attempt to surprise. The 372 mm body extension and 200 mm longer wheelbase transform the car from just a large SUV into something akin to a mobile lounge on wheels.

The size of this SUV puts it in the same category as the Rolls-Royce Cullinan or Mercedes-Maybach GLS, but with a more aggressive design and technological emphasis. It's hard not to notice the two-section boot door, which allows you to load things comfortably, despite the overall height of the car.

Dimensions of the BYD YangWang U8L:

YangWang U8L interior: first-class comfort

The U8L cabin is not just a comfortable place for the driver and passengers. Everything here is designed to make everyone feel separate, spacious and as technologically advanced as possible. This car is definitely not about "get in and drive" - it's about "sit down, relax and enjoy".

The external size made it possible to implement a full-fledged 2+2+2 configuration, where each seat is an independent capsule with a separate set of functions. Simply put, there are more amenities here than in many apartments. The main interior elements:

Digital displays:

  • 23.6-inch screen for the driver
  • 23.6-inch front passenger screen
  • 12.8-inch centre multimedia screen
  • separate displays for second-row passengers

Finish:

  • Nappa leather
  • natural wood
  • metal accents

Comfortable features:

  • heating, ventilation, massage of all seats
  • heating even in the armrests
  • adjustable glass tinting
  • panoramic roof

The car also has a premium audio system that can be adjusted to specific areas of the cabin. And no less important is the silence. The sound insulation here is really impressive. Even at speeds over 100 km/h, the cabin remains almost silent. It's not just comfort, it's a quiet room on wheels.

Other details that catch your eye

This car will not go unnoticed:

  • Gold logo in 24-carat gold
  • LED lighting around the perimeter of the body
  • Muscular lines and aggressive profile
  • Unique rear light pattern

This is the case when the car does not look like a Tesla or BMW - it has its own handwriting, and it is far from the European restrained style.

Engine and transmission: a hybrid beast with character

The design of the YangWang U8L powertrain is not a classic hybrid. Here, the 2.0-litre petrol engine acts only as a generator, recharging the battery, and all the work is done by four electric motors, one for each wheel.

This doesn't just give you four-wheel drive - it allows you to turn in place, move sideways or stabilise on difficult surfaces. In addition, this scheme allows you to implement a driving mode on water.

Main characteristics of the power plant:

  • System capacity: 1180 hp
  • Torque: 1280 Nm
  • 0-100 km/h: 3.6 seconds
  • Power reserve: up to 1000 km (electricity + generator)
  • Battery: 55.53 kWh

Interestingly, the U8L outperforms even the original Bugatti Veyron in terms of power, although the logic of their application is completely different.

How we at ECOFACTOR help electric vehicles like the YangWang U8L stay charged and ready for the road

Cars such as the YangWang U8L place completely different demands on the infrastructure. A powerful battery, a long range, a hybrid system, advanced electronics - all of this requires stable, convenient and clear access to charging. This is where we, the ECOFACTOR team, come into play.

We have been working with charging infrastructure in Ukraine and abroad for over 10 years. Our approach is not just to install a station and forget about it. We design, develop and maintain charging stations ourselves, in Ukraine, taking into account our realities and the needs of modern electric transport.

Our network includes more than 3,500 charging ports, and the infrastructure supports both AC and DC charging stations - that is, both conventional charging and fast charging up to 420 kW.

For convenience, we have created an application for iOS and Androidthrough which drivers have access to maps of charging stationsThe app allows drivers to view port availability, manage their charge, and enjoy bonuses and support features. The app already has more than 215,000 registered drivers, a community that is growing every day.

In addition to the network, we offer solutions for home and business. In our online store you can pick up chargers, mobile stations, cables and adaptersas well as other accessories that are necessary for the daily use of an electric vehicle. If you don't know what exactly is suitable for your car, our team will advise and help you with the selection.

Whether you have a large hybrid SUV or a compact city EV, the infrastructure needs to work so that you don't have to worry about whether the charge will last until your end point. And that's exactly what we do every day.

Chassis: when suspension is a smart system

The YangWang U8L has not just a soft suspension for comfortable city driving. It's a sophisticated Disus-P system that allows you to individually adjust the height of each wheel. And this is a completely different level. The car can tilt when parking, adapt to difficult surfaces or levelling out over bumps. This flexibility allows you to literally get out of the mud on your own, without any assistance or winch.

This is complemented by a set of solutions that are not usually found in production cars. Firstly, there are carbon-ceramic brakes, which provide stable braking even with a serious weight of the car. Secondly, the steerable rear wheels allow the car to turn in tight spaces much easier than you would expect from such a large beast.

And one more amazing thing is the crab steering. Yes, this car can move sideways. But the most interesting thing is that it can drive on water. In the literal sense. When the special mode is activated, the car becomes an amphibian and can swim at a speed of up to 3 km/h. However, for no more than 30 minutes - then the system displays a warning and asks you to find a solid surface. However, the very fact that such a function exists in a production car already commands respect. It's not just a brochure feature - it's a real option that works.

Autopilot and electronics

The YangWang U8L is not just equipped with modern electronics - it is literally stuffed with sensors. Its DiPilot 600 autonomous driving system is not just a word, but a very real set of powerful equipment. The car is equipped with three lidars, dozens of cameras and a whole set of radars that continuously analyse the surrounding situation. All this allows the car to see the road from all sides, even in difficult weather conditions.

The system supports a number of functions that significantly reduce the workload on the driver:

  • Navigate On Autopilot: the car moves independently on the highway, adjusts and makes turns
  • Automatic parking: works both parallel and perpendicular
  • Lane maintenance: helps to avoid accidental lane departures
  • Adaptive cruise control: keeps a smooth distance from the car in front
  • Obstacle and pedestrian detection systemResponds to changes in the environment

In practice, this means that the U8L can handle typical city and intercity scenarios: heavy traffic, traffic lights, manoeuvring in traffic jams. Yes, you shouldn't take your hands off the wheel yet - the driver remains in charge. But even in its current form, the DiPilot 600 can significantly reduce driving fatigue, especially on long journeys or daily commutes in a metropolitan area.

And most importantly, it doesn't look like a beta version. The interface is user-friendly, the reactions are predictable, and the system clearly tells you when it's taking over. In other words, it doesn't just work, it actually helps.

Digital services and app

In the YangWang U8L, digital capabilities are not limited to screens in the cabin. Each owner has access to a proprietary mobile app that turns their smartphone into a remote car control. It allows you to check the charge level, see the general condition of the car, and start or stop the climate system even before you get inside. Convenient in winter or in the heat - the car is already cooled or warmed up when you approach it.

In addition, the app allows you to remotely control some settings and functions, which is useful when you leave your car in a car park or in another city. Another advantage is the support for over-the-air (OTA) updates. This means that the system is constantly being improved, adding new features without the need to go to a service centre. Everything is updated just like a regular app on your smartphone - quickly, automatically and without any hassle.

Price, positioning and who this beast is for

Starting price: 1.3 million yuan, which is about 181,000 $ in dollars. At first glance, it seems expensive, but compared to analogues in Europe or the US, it is still a competitive figure, especially given the amount of equipment.

Is it worth waiting for it in Ukraine?

So far, there have been no official deliveries, but the first regular YangWang U8s have already been spotted in Ukraine. Theoretically, if there is demand, an elongated version will also appear, especially in large cities where people value not only comfort but also technology.

Results.

The YangWang U8L is not just another hybrid SUV, but an example of how far the Chinese automotive industry has come. Everything here is done on a grand scale: from the four electric motors and air suspension to the cabin, which resembles a business class on an airplane. It is not trying to be like European brands - on the contrary, it creates its own vision of comfort and technology.

Yes, this is still exotic for our market, but the emergence of such cars is a game changer. They show that an electric car can be not only about economy or ecology, but also about ambition, status and the desire to get the most out of life. If we used to wonder how Tesla could park itself, now we are no longer surprised by a hybrid that can swim. And this is perhaps the best indicator of progress.
