In short, this car is capable of turning on the spot, driving sideways, fording, and, if necessary, swimming for up to half an hour. But this showmanship also hides a rather serious technical base.

How it looks and feels

It does not get lost on the road, even among luxury cars. But it doesn’t look bold either. The U8 fits seamlessly into any urban environment – in front of the Lviv Opera House, in the mountains, forest or steppe. Visually, it doesn’t shout about its class, but it also doesn’t try to appear simpler than it is. This is a very balanced approach that is often lacking in other Chinese SUVs.

Everything in the cabin is done at a level that was previously associated only with German premium brands. Nappa leather, pleasant-to-the-touch surfaces, the absence of unnecessary chrome details and general silence – all this creates an atmosphere in which you want to stay a little longer. When you get behind the wheel, the first impression is not “wow, what a shiny screen”, but “finally, nothing cuts the eye”. The devices are logically arranged, the screens don’t blink, the sound isn’t jarring, and the HUD projection really helps, not just takes up space.

The U8 feels expensive, but not pretentious. They didn’t try to impress with an Instagram-ready interior, or insert a million RGB lights or gilding. Instead, they created an environment where comfort is not a decoration, but the norm. And this is perhaps one of the car’s strongest points: it is confidently expensive, but at the same time restrained and practical.

And one more thing: it’s a portable power plant

The VTL function allows the vehicle to be used as a power source. The power is enough to:

• charge laptops
• power the electric hob
• switch on the heater
• Use a drill or compressor

Security and the brain of the system

The U8 is not just equipped with state-of-the-art electronics – it’s really well thought out for situations where most cars fall short. The system supports L2 automation, but the sensor set hints that there is much more potential here.

The car has as many as 38 sensors. Among them:

• 3 LiDAR scanners for spatial vision even in fog or darkness
• 13 cameras monitoring the road, pedestrians and cars around
• 12 ultrasonic sensors for parking and manoeuvring in tight spaces
• 5 millimetre radar for precise distance determination to objects
