Platform and body: what's under the bonnet and underfoot

The Zeekr 001 is built on the SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform, which Geely developed specifically for electric vehicles. This is the same framework used for new models from Volvo, Smart and other brands in the group.

The body itself is a liftback, that is, a five-door car with a sloping roofline that looks a bit like a cross between a Porsche Taycan and a Lucid Air. In profile, it looks dynamic, but not aggressive. Length - 4955 mm, width - 1999 mm, height - 1560 mm. The wheelbase is 2999 mm. For comparison, this is almost like the E-Class from Mercedes.

Interestingly, Zeekr has retained some elements from Lynk & Co, including the distinctive headlights and retractable door handles. It also has frameless windows, which is rare even among more expensive electric cars.

Interior space and comfort: not just beautiful

The interior of the Zeekr 001 is tastefully designed. It is already available as standard:

Is it spacious? Yes, it is. The boot has a capacity of 539 litres as standard, and when the rear seats are folded, it can be up to 2,144 litres. This is more than enough for long journeys or family shopping.

Electric motors, drive and dynamics

The Zeekr 001 is available in several versions. The most common in Europe is Performance AWD with all-wheel drive and two electric motors with a total output of 544 hp. This allows for 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.8 seconds. Impressive, especially considering that the car weighs more than 2.4 tonnes.

The top speed is limited to 200 km/h (although some sources say 230 km/h in other versions). Torque is 686 Nm.

The drive is all-wheel drive, but there is also a rear-wheel drive version with a single motor. It has less dynamics but a longer range.

The Zeekr 001 has a 100 kWh battery (94 kWh of usable capacity) manufactured by CATL. It is a lithium-ion design with NCM811, 110s1p configuration. The system voltage is 400 V.

• mixed mode in average temperatures: 480-524 km

The actual range is 480 km. These figures vary depending on driving style, temperature and terrain, but even the worst figure (about 410 km in cold weather) is quite acceptable.

Long trips: how comfortable is it?

When it comes to an electric vehicle for travelling, it is not enough to have a large battery. It is not only important how many kilometres you can drive without stopping, but also how quickly you can recharge during a break. In this respect, the Zeekr 001 is quite confident, although not without compromise.

The SEA platform on which the car is built is based on a 400V architecture. This means that it is inferior to models with 800-volt systems in terms of charging speed. For example, a Porsche Taycan or Hyundai Ioniq 5 can get a longer range in the same 15-20 minutes. But this does not mean that the Zeekr 001 is not suitable for long-distance travel.

According to the EV Database, the Zeekr 001 has a "roadworthiness" rating of 3.5 out of 5. This is based on how far the car can travel with one short charging stop (15 minutes) and how efficiently it charges during this time.

A typical travel scenario:

• The first stage: A fully charged car can drive about 353 km without stopping. This is a realistic figure in mixed conditions, when the speed is stable and energy consumption is not excessive.
• Stopping to charge: The car then stops for a 15-minute charge at a 200 kW DC station. During this time, the battery receives enough energy for another 170 km of driving range.
• The second stage: after charging, you can drive about 171 km, which is quite convenient for most routes between cities.

• Total travel time: approximately 5 hours, of which only 15 minutes are spent charging

This scenario is quite optimistic, but it is realistic for spring, summer or early autumn, when there are neither severe frosts nor heat waves that require intensive use of climate control.

The Zeekr 001 has an adaptive air suspension with adjustable ground clearance. The range is from 117 to 200 mm. This is convenient if you alternate city trips with trips out of town. The turning radius is 11.8 metres.

The SEA platform ensures stability and good grip, especially in the all-wheel drive version. The steering mechanism has a short rack with variable tooth pitch for precise steering at speed.
