A few years ago, Chinese electric vehicles were viewed with caution. Today, brands such as BYD can easily compete with Europeans. The Han L is one of the most recent and interesting examples. It is a large sedan that offers several types of powertrains and shows how far Chinese engineers have come. No loud slogans or marketing tinsel.

In this article, we will look at the technical characteristics of the BYD Han L, its dimensions, engines, acceleration, fuel consumption and range. In short, this is an electric sedan or plug-in hybrid that can actually be used on a daily basis. But let's take it one step at a time.

We remind you that you can purchase home and commercial charging stations in our online storeand also use the public charging stations ECOFACTORcharging points located throughout Ukraine. For convenient access to charging infrastructure, we recommend using our mobile applicationwhich is available on iOS and Android.

General dimensions and class

Han L is a full-fledged E-class sedan. It is large, long, with a wide wheelbase. This is felt both inside and out, especially in the rear row.

The main dimensions are as follows:

  • Length: 5050 mm
  • Width: 1960 mm
  • Height: 1505 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2970 mm

The car has 4 doors, seats 5 passengers, with front or all-wheel drive, depending on the modification. The wheels are 19-inch with 245/45 tyres. The front and rear track is 1680 mm. All this together provides good road stability and interior space.

BYD Han L modifications: which one to choose

Han L is available in four main versions. Two are plug-in hybrids with a petrol engine, and two are fully electric.

1. DM-i 1.5Ti (272 hp)

This is a front-wheel drive hybrid version with economy at the forefront. It has a turbocharged 1.5 litre petrol engine and an electric motor.

  • Power: 272 hp.
  • Acceleration 0-100 km/h: 6.9 с
  • Top speed: 200 km/h
  • Fuel consumption: 3.9 l/100 km

This version is suitable for those who want to consume less fuel but are not yet ready to go completely electric.

2. DM-p 1.5Ti (544 hp)

A more powerful plug-in hybrid with all-wheel drive. It has the same 1.5-litre engine, but with additional electric motors.

  • Power: 544 hp.
  • Acceleration 0-100 km/h: 3.9 с
  • Top speed: 200 km/h
  • Consumption: 4.6 - 5.7 litres/100 km
  • Electric range: up to 145 km

This option is more like a sports car. It is ideal for those who want to have a power reserve but do not want to depend on charging.

3. Electric version 83.2 kWh (680 hp)

Fully electric Han L with rear-wheel drive. The emphasis is on the range and comfortable driving.

  • Power: 489 hp.
  • Acceleration 0-100 km/h: 5.5 с
  • Top speed: 240 km/h
  • Cruising range (CLTC): up to 701 km

It's a good option for quiet, long-distance trips. The dynamics are decent, but the main thing is the energy reserve.

4. Electric version 83.2 kWh (1102 hp) 4WD

This is the flagship among the Han L. Two engines, all-wheel drive, space power and speed.

  • Power: 1102 hp.
  • Acceleration 0-100 km/h: 2.7 с
  • Top speed: 270 km/h
  • Cruising range: up to 601 km

In reality, this is an electric car for those who want to "shoot" from traffic lights, but at the same time drive in silence. And without exhaust.

Batteries, charging type and fuel

Plug-in hybrids have a battery capacity of 29.46 kWh. This allows you to drive about 140-145 km on electric power without starting the petrol engine. Charging is via the GB/T (AC/DC) connector. The battery type is lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP), which has a good service life.

The fuel for the hybrid versions is regular AI-92, which is rare for such cars. This means lower costs and easier maintenance in the Ukrainian environment.

The all-electric versions use an 83.2 kWh battery. Both fast and slow charging are supported.

How to charge BYD Han L in Ukraine: ECOFACTOR infrastructure

At ECOFACTOR, we understand that even the best technical characteristics of an electric vehicle are worthless without a convenient and stable charging infrastructure. Therefore, if you choose an electric or hybrid version of the BYD Han L, the issue of charging will become relevant to you from the very first days of use. And this is where we can help.

Our company has been developing the ecosystem for over 10 years charging stations in Ukraine, and we are not limited to equipment. We have a full range of solutions: from the production and installation of stations to network management, a mobile app for drivers, and support for businesses that want to develop charging infrastructure. Our charging stations are manufactured in Ukraine, comply with industry standards, and are available in several categories - mobile, AC up to 44 kW, and DC up to 420 kW.

It is important for BYD Han L owners to be able to charge their car both at home and on the road. Our network offers various types of connectors, including GB/T, which is used in Chinese models. If you need to adapt charging station for a particular car, we have a online store all the necessary accessories are available cables, adapters, holders, adapters and RFID cards.

For everyday use, we have created the ECOFACTOR mobile app for iOS and Android. It allows you to find the nearest charging point, view its status in real time, plan a trip and get detailed information about charging sessions. The app works with map of charging stations and covers both our outlets and roaming stations - more than 500,000 locations in 11 countries across Europe and Central Asia.

For businesses, we offer a grid management platform: you can change tariffs, monitor energy consumption, add new stations and get analytics in a few clicks. We also advise on the choice of equipment and provide installation and technical support.

Whether you need a charging station for your home or business, or you are simply looking for reliable cables and adapters for your car, we at ECOFACTOR are already working to make sure that it is available nearby.

Chassis and handling

The suspension is independent and coil-sprung, both at the front and rear. This gives a soft, predictable behaviour on our roads. The brakes are disc ventilated in a circle. The transmission is one, automatic. In hybrids, it is an electronic CVT, in electrics - a conventional single-speed transmission.

The car weighs from 2235 kg, but thanks to its low centre of gravity (battery underneath), it feels quite stable. All-wheel drive adds confidence in rain or snow.

Engine and technical details

The hybrid powertrain is based on a 1.5-litre BYD472ZQB direct-injection petrol turbo engine. It is paired with electric motors. Together, they produce either 272 or 544 hp.

Key technical parameters:

  • Dimensions: 1498 cm³.
  • Maximum power: 544 bhp at 5500 rpm
  • Torque: 225 N-m at 4500 rpm
  • Type of timing system: DOHC
  • Compression ratio: 12.5

All of this is designed for balanced battery life. Overclocking in plug-in hybrids is no joke, especially in DM-p.

Who will appreciate Han L in Ukraine

The BYD Han L can be a practical choice for Ukrainian drivers who are considering a modern electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid in a large sedan format. This is not a niche car for enthusiasts, but rather a functional tool for those looking for a certain balance between size, power, economy and technology.

Han L is suitable for those who:

  • needs a spacious saloon with a comfortable rear row for travelling with passengers or family
  • looking for a technically competitive alternative to models like the BMW 5 Series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but at a more affordable price
  • wants to switch to electric traction, but is not yet ready to completely abandon the ICE and considers a plug-in hybrid as a transitional option
  • Evaluates efficiency and costs in the long term, including low fuel or energy consumption
  • sees the car not as a status element, but as a convenient and technically sound means of transport

In the context of Ukrainian realities - given fuel prices, a developed charging infrastructure in cities and growing interest in electric cars - Han L looks like a logical option for daily use. It is focused on practice rather than demonstration, and this is its main advantage.

Bottom line.

The BYD Han L is not about showiness, but about substance. Everything here is combined into one: a spacious interior, tangible power, low energy consumption and several options to choose from. Some people will prefer the plug-in hybrid, which allows them to be independent of charging. Others will choose an all-electric version with a range of 700 km. But in any case, this is no longer an experiment, but a serious alternative to European analogues.

For the Ukrainian market, the Han L looks particularly logical. It's a big car with modern technology that you can use every day without changing your lifestyle or adapting to the car. On the contrary, it adapts to you. No pathos, no excessive complexity. Just normal technology that does its job.

Frequently asked questions

Can I charge BYD Han L at home?

Yes, you can. For hybrid and electric versions, charging from the home network via the GB/T connector is available. The speed depends on the power of the charger, but basic charging is quite suitable for overnight charging.

What is the actual range of the electric version?

The rear-wheel drive version with an 83.2 kWh battery has a range of up to 701 km on the CLTC cycle. In real-world conditions, you can expect 550-600 km if you drive without sudden accelerations and with the climate system in place.

Is Han L suitable for winter?

Yes, especially the all-wheel drive versions. Thanks to the low centre of gravity and all-wheel drive, the car is confident on the road. Also, models with LFP batteries operate stably at sub-zero temperatures, although, like other electric cars, the range may be slightly reduced.

Do I need to use special fuel for hybrid versions?

No, and this is another advantage of the Han L. In hybrid modifications, you can use regular AI-92 petrol. This is convenient in Ukrainian conditions, where premium fuel is not always available.

What is the level of comfort inside?

The Han L has a large cabin, especially for second-row passengers. Upholstery, screen, legroom - everything is at the level of modern E-class sedans. Versions with power seats, climate control and a large touchscreen display are available.

Is Han L officially available in Ukraine?

At the time of publication, it was mostly available through importers or on request. But there have already been first deliveries, and the model is gradually appearing on the Ukrainian market.
