On April 1, 2024 European Commission launched the program to reduce carbon emissions in the Municipality of Curtea de Argel by implementing the integrated urban mobility corridor SUD-WEST-Centre (Rîmnicu Vîlcea-Bulevardul Basarabilor Street) in order to increase clean mobility through integrated investments in smart solutions. The overall objective of the project directly contributes to the achievement of Specific Objective RSO2.8, which aims to promote sustainable multimodal urban mobility. The project aims to increase clean mobility by investing in smart solutions and green infrastructure, in line with the strategic directions of Policy Objective 2 – A greener, resilient, low-carbon Europe. This objective is essential for the transition to a zero-carbon economy by encouraging the use of clean and sustainable energies and promoting investment in sustainable urban mobility.

Curtea de Argeș municipality in order to push ahead with the electrification of its bus operations, has commissioned a modern charging infrastructure for its growing fleet of electric buses at its depot on Strada 1 Mai nr. 7. Together with EV Romania as installation partner, we supplied and commissioned a total of 18 high-power DC charging stations across two locations, delivering a combined installed capacity of 1.8 MW. At the main depot, we deployed 14 units of 60 kW chargers (total installed capacity 1.32 MW) alongside 2 units of 240 kW (total installed capacity 0.48 MW) at remote terminal stations for long-route support.

The depot infrastructure has been designed to support full-power simultaneous operation, ensuring that the entire fleet can be charged reliably and without compromise. This dual-location approach, combining overnight depot charging with strategically placed terminal charging points, ensures that the fleet remains fully operational throughout the day while being ready for the next service cycle.

"By deploying our intelligent charging infrastructure in Curtea de Argeș, we have enabled the municipality's e-bus fleet to charge reliably and efficiently, with a scalable platform that grows seamlessly as the fleet expands. This project is a strong example of what ECOFACTOR’s integrated hardware and software solutions can achieve giving operators full confidence that their electrified depot is built for today and ready for the future," says Volodymyr Revera, CTO, ECOFACTOR.

All 18 charging stations are fully integrated into the ECOFACTOR CPMS, giving the fleet manager complete visibility and control over the entire charging infrastructure. Through CPMS, ECOFACTOR enables Curtea de Argeș Municipality to centrally monitor and manage every charging point across both the depot and remote terminal stations, making the entire charging process more efficient, transparent, and straightforward to incorporate into daily operations.

The platform provides real-time monitoring of all chargers, remote control of charging sessions including start and stop functions, and full telemetry collection to ensure nothing goes unnoticed. Built-in diagnostics and fault detection allow issues to be identified and addressed quickly, while comprehensive charging session management, energy analytics, and usage reporting give operators the data they need to make informed decisions. Access control features further ensure that the system remains secure and well-governed at all times.

Acting as the technology platform partner, ECOFACTOR takes responsibility for continuous system supervision and ensures that analytics and operational insights are always available, supporting bus depot in running a reliable, future-ready electric fleet.
