BYD Qin Plus is the case when an electric car does not try to be “wow”. It just does its job: it drives quietly, charges without incident, and doesn’t scare you with its price. It has nothing extra, but it has everything most drivers need. If you are now at the stage where you want to “try electric” without fanaticism, this model deserves attention.
In this article, we’ll look at the differences between the 400, 500 and 600 versions, what the interior looks like, what about charging, and where the compromises are that you should know about in advance.
We remind you that you can purchase home and commercial charging stations in our online storeand also use the public charging stations ECOFACTORcharging points located throughout Ukraine. For convenient access to charging infrastructure, we recommend using our mobile applicationwhich is available on iOS and Android.
BYD Qin Plus: a simple idea that works
Not every electric car is designed to impress. BYD Qin Plus is not about experimentation or high-profile technology. It’s about stability. It’s about making an electric car no longer something “special” and becoming a common vehicle – one that you get into in the morning and know it will take you there.
There are no marketing pitfalls in this sedan. Everything here is made with everyday life in mind: a battery that can withstand real-world routes. Charging that doesn’t drive you crazy. A cabin where nothing shines for nothing. And packages that you don’t have to study like a fridge manual.
The idea is simple: to give people an electric car that they can use without retraining as an engineer. For work, for family, for themselves. So that you don’t have to count every kilometre, but just drive. BYD Qin Plus is not about uniqueness. It’s about normalcy, which is still rare in electric vehicles.
Dimensions and platform: a class without gigantism
In the photo, the car looks a little more modest than it actually is. It’s a D-class sedan, although it feels closer to a sturdy C+. We have the following dimensions:
- Length – 4675 mm
- Width – 1837 mm
- Height – 1515 mm
- Wheelbase – 2718 mm
- Ground clearance – 125 mm
The platform is front-wheel drive. The front has an independent MacPherson suspension, the rear has a multi-link suspension. On the move, the car is not hard, but not soft, something in between. It’s a little firmer than Japanese hybrids, but it holds the road confidently.
400, 500 and 600 versions: what’s the difference?
Qin Plus is sold in three main versions, which are named as such: 400, 500 and 600. These are not names for beauty, the numbers indicate the nominal range according to the NEDC cycle.
BYD Qin Plus 400: basic but not empty
This is the starter kit, and everything is simple: a 100 kW electric motor, a 47.5 kWh battery, no frills in the functions. But basic doesn’t mean “bare plastic” here. There is a multimedia system, parking sensors, climate control, and LED headlights. If you need a reliable electric sedan without excesses, this option is quite logical.
BYD Qin Plus 500: the optimal balance
The 500 version has a 57 kWh battery, the same 100 kW engine, but it feels like a completely different level. There are more details in the cabin and useful features. In the full version, adaptive cruise control, surround view cameras, colour interior lighting, a power front seat and blind spot monitoring are added. It’s no longer just “normal”, it’s comfortable.
BYD Qin Plus 600: maximum without kinks
The top-of-the-line model has a 135 kW engine and a 71.7 kWh battery. Wider 235/45 R18 tyres are also fitted. Otherwise, the equipment is almost the same as in the full 500 version. That is, the main differences are in dynamics and range. It is suitable for those who want more freedom of movement without compromising on daily convenience.
This is not a case where the top equipment is radically different. Everything is pretty even. The choice here is more about the battery and dynamics than about “cheap and rich”.
Engine and dynamics: a simple approach
The base electric motor produces 100 kW (136 hp) and is installed on the 400 and 500 versions. The 600 version has 135 kW. All models are front-wheel drive. The maximum speed is limited to 150 km/h. Here are the main characteristics:
- Acceleration 0-100: about 9 seconds in the top version.
- Reason: only the front one.
- The location of the engine: above the front axle.
There’s no excessive power or showy dynamics here. But there is no shortage of traction in the city. It’s enough for everyday driving.

Batteries and charging: what you need to know in practice
Three batteries, each with its own logic of use:
- 47.5 kWh (400 km NEDC)
- 57 kWh (500 km NEDC)
- 71.7 kWh (600 km NEDC)
In practice, it’s roughly the same:
- 300+ km in the city in the basic version.
- 400+ km in mixed mode in the top.
Charging from a household outlet takes 8 to 10 hours. Fast charging is standard: 30-40 minutes for the 80% at a DC station. The battery has liquid cooling and heating, which is important for Ukrainian winters.

Design and interior: what BYD Qin Plus looks like inside and out
The exterior and interior are something you encounter every day, even without starting the engine. That is why it is worth looking at these things a little more closely. The BYD Qin Plus will not have a show car effect or premium gloss, but it has something else – neatness, logic, simplicity. Everything looks like this car was created not to surprise, but to drive every day without irritation.
Exterior: recognisable but not flashy
On the road, BYD Qin Plus is easy to spot, but not because of any excessive aggression in design. Everything is restrained. The fact that this is an electric car is clear at first glance: instead of a classic radiator grille, there is a blind bumper, a smooth front line, and narrow headlights. In BYD’s corporate identity, they are often compared to the eyes of a dragon, and there is something to it. LED stripes on the front and rear add to the car’s visibility at night.
There are light chrome inserts, pleasant to the touch door handles, and factory tinted rear windows. The trunk lid has a horizontal red line that unites the brake lights. It is not only for beauty, but also to make the car better visible in fog or rain. Everything looks logical, without unnecessary decorative tricks. Simple and good.
Interior: minimum of excess, maximum of what you need
Inside, it is immediately noticeable that the interior was designed with daily use in mind. Eco-leather with contrasting stitching, soft plastic panels, glossy inserts that do not cut the eyes. The driver’s seat is well thought out: power seats, multi-button steering wheel, and a clutter-free centre console. Everything you need is at your fingertips.
The main star of the cabin is the rather large multimedia touchscreen. It faces the driver, is clear and bright, and is easy to read even in the sun. Most functions are controlled through it: climate, music, navigation, interior lighting. There’s even built-in karaoke, which is a strange but interesting thing for passengers in a traffic jam.
From the pleasant:
- USB ports on the front and rear,
- Bluetooth, multimedia system with good response,
- a manually operated hatch,
- smart key with remote start and the ability to switch on the air conditioning in advance.
As for space, the front passengers are comfortable, with plenty of shoulder and legroom. But there is a caveat: the rear row is not very friendly to tall people. If you are over 180 cm tall, your knees may rest against the backrests, and the roof may rest against your head. It’s not critical, but it’s worth knowing in advance.
Security: more than you’d expect from the price
It’s even in the database:
- ESP, ABS, TCS.
- Rear view camera.
- Front and rear parking sensors.
- Brake Assist.
- Traction control and downhill assistance.
In the older versions, there is a circular view, blind spot monitoring, and an emergency braking system. Plus, the DVR is a small but pleasant thing. There are six airbags.

Who is suitable for BYD Qin Plus
This electric sedan is neither for show nor for racing. It is suitable for those who want it:
- Switch from petrol to electric without pain.
- Get a normal range without overpaying.
- To have a cabin with modern multimedia and basic comfort.
- No worries about not having enough charge to get to work and back.
It’s also a good option for a taxi or company car – the battery lasts, the comfort is good, and the look is restrained.
Advantages and weaknesses
Any car is a set of solutions. Sometimes it compromises, sometimes it surprises you. In BYD Qin Plus, everything is quite honest: what is declared is what you get. But if you collect the main pros and cons after a few days of driving, they look something like this:
Advantages:
- Good power reserve in every version
- Quiet and predictable in motion
- High-quality multimedia
- Relatively affordable price
- Unified logic of packages
Disadvantages:
- No all-wheel drive even in the top
- Low roof at the rear
- Sometimes stingy on-screen climate interface
Conclusions.
The BYD Qin Plus is an honest attempt to make an electric car mass-produced. No frills, no complicated systems, but with everything you need. If you are looking for your first electric car and don’t want to spend thousands of dollars, this model deserves a test drive. It’s not perfect, but it’s perfectly functional – just the way it should be in real life, not in an advertising brochure.
Frequently asked questions
u003cstrongu003eWhat is the real range of the BYD Qin Plus when driving in the city?u003c/strongu003e
In the city, the figures are closer to the truth than on the highway. In the basic version with a 47.5 kWh battery, you can expect 300-330 km without recharging if you don’t push too hard. In the top 600 version, it’s quite possible to see more than 450 km at a relaxed pace. But, as always, it all depends on your riding style, the weather, and how you use the climate control.
u003cstrongu003eIs it worth taking the top version with a 71.7 kWh battery?u003c/strongu003e
If you regularly drive between cities or don’t have a home charger, yes, a larger battery gives you more freedom. But for city driving, even the 500 version is more than enough. The difference in equipment between the 500 and 600 is minimal, so it’s more a matter of route than pomp.
u003cstrongu003eDoes BYD Qin Plus support fast charging?u003c/strongu003e
Yes, all versions are charged with direct current. Fast charging allows you to recharge up to 80% in 30-40 minutes. This is not a record, but it is quite normal for this class. At home, charging takes up to 10 hours depending on the battery.
u003cstrongu003eHow comfortable is it to drive BYD Qin Plus in Ukrainian conditions?u003c/strongu003e
The 125 mm ground clearance is not very forgiving of pits, but overall the car drives confidently. The suspension is well-balanced, the steering is crisp, and the noise insulation is fine if you don’t drive on pavement. For the city and the suburbs, it’s an ideal option. For off-road – not quite.
u003cstrongu003eAre ECOFACTOR chargers compatible with BYD Qin Plus?u003c/strongu003e
Yes, completely. At ECOFACTOR, we work with international standards (CCS/Type 2), so BYD can be charged at any of our stations – both AC and DC. In the app, you can quickly find the nearest free point and start charging right from your phone.
