Technical characteristics of the Renault Zoe

The R110 Z.E. 50 is equipped with a 52 kWh battery and has a range of up to 300 km in a mixed cycle. The maximum speed is 135 km/h, and the car accelerates to “hundreds” in about 10 seconds. There is also a version of the R135 Z.E. 50 with slightly better dynamics, but an almost identical charging unit.

Renault Zoe charging speed

The Z.E. 40 had a battery capacity of only 41 kWh and did not support fast DC charging. Its maximum charging speed was 22 kW AC.

Вона can заряджатись through змінний струм до 22 kW, а through постійний – до 46 кВт.

Avoid regular charging up to 100% and do not bring the battery to a complete zero, as this gradually reduces its life. It is best to keep the charge between 20-80%.

What kind of connector does the Renault Zoe have?

Zoe uses two types of connectors:

  • Type 2 (Mennekes)AC: for charging up to 22 kW. This is a standard European connector and is easy to find at home, work or most public stations.
  • CCS Combo 2: for fast charging with a direct current of up to 46 kW. It is used at highway stations along motorways or in cities.

Where is the charging port?

Before charging at public stations, check whether you need to have an app, card or network registration. In Ukraine, it depends on the provider (e.g. ECOFACTOR, TOKA, AutoEnterprise, etc.).

How long does it take to charge the Renault Zoe?

The charging time of the Renault Zoe R110 Z.E. 50 depends on the power of the charger. There are different types of charging stations available in Ukraine, but not all speeds are available everywhere. Therefore, it is important to know which options are available in your city or route and how long it will take to charge.

In addition to power, the charging time is also affected by the air temperature, battery condition, background power consumption in the car and the charge level at the time of connection.

Below are the estimated charging times for the Renault Zoe R110 Z.E. 50 from 10% to 80%. After 80%, most electric vehicles slow down charging to preserve battery life. Regular charging up to 100% is also not recommended as it can accelerate battery degradation.

2.3 kW – звичайна розетка

This is a standard household socket that can be found in every Ukrainian apartment or house. To charge Zoe through it, you need an adapter with a controller (Type 2 cable with protection).

This is a very slow charging method, but sometimes convenient, especially for overnight charging. Avoid using this type of connection frequently without a separate, protected power line.

How long does it take?

Approximately 15 hours 50 minutes to charge from 10 to 80%.

3.6 kW charging

This type of charger can be found in some car parks of residential complexes, offices or installed at home. This is a fairly common capacity for budget wall chargers (wallboxes).

It is best used for charging overnight or during the working day.

How long does it take?

Approximately 10 hours 7 minutes to charge from 10 to 80%.

7 kW charging

This is the most popular option for home charging stations among Ukrainian electric vehicle owners. Many install such wallboxes in garages or private parking spaces.

How long does it take?

Approximately 5 hours 12 minutes to charge 10 to 80%.

22 kW charging

At home, a 22 kW charger requires a three-phase connection and a high-quality power grid, so such stations can most often be found at public charging stations in large cities.

Zoe supports 22 kW AC charging, so it can fully utilise this power.

How long does it take?

1 hour 39 minutes from 10 to 80%.

50 kW charging

This is a fast DC charging system that is available at many public stations in Ukraine (for example, ECOFACTOR, TOKA, AutoEnterprise, YASNO). Zoe supports a speed of up to 46 kW, so even if the station provides 50 kW, the car will take a little less.

How long does it take?

47 minutes to charge 10 to 80%.

Ultra-rapid charging (100-350 kW)

Some stations in Ukraine already support ultra-rapid charging. This is rare, but their number is gradually increasing. Zoe will still charge at its limit – up to 46 kW.

How long does it take?

Where can I charge my Renault Zoe?

Different charging speeds are available in different locations. Typically, at home or at work, these are slow AC charges, while public stations offer a wider range of capacities. But each charging network has its own characteristics: coverage, tariffs, access conditions.

To charge your Renault Zoe conveniently and without stress, you should know the pros and cons of each main option.

Home exercise

In Ukraine, there are two main options for charging at home: through a regular socket (2.3 kW) with an adapter or through a stationary wall station (Wallbox) for 3.6-7 kW, which is installed separately.

Advantages.

Renault Zoe has a medium-sized battery, so it is convenient to charge it at night. Charging at night is the most cost-effective option, especially if you have a dual-zone electricity tariff.

Stationary charging allows you to fully charge your car overnight. If you drive every day, this is the most convenient and cheapest way.

Disadvantages.

Daytime charging (during peak hours) can be expensive. And if you’re using a regular wall outlet, keep an eye on the condition of the wiring. Older networks can overheat or pose risks.

Charging at work

As the popularity of electric vehicles has grown, some Ukrainian employers have started to install charging points for employees. Most often, these are 3.6 or 7 kW AC charging points, less often – 22 kW.

Advantages.

If you work in an office 5 days a week, this is convenient. The car is charged during the working day, and you don’t have to spend time charging it at home or at public stations.

Sometimes employers cover the cost of electricity, which can be an additional bonus.

Disadvantages.

This is not always an affordable option. Many companies do not yet have charging stations. Even if they do, it’s not a given that they are free – there may be a fee, and the connection is only for employees.

Public charging stations

Dozens of networks are already active in Ukraine, covering major cities, highways and commercial facilities. Some stations are available around the clock, while others are only available during shopping mall or car park opening hours.

Advantages.

This is the fastest way to charge your Renault Zoe. Only public stations have fast and ultra-rapid charging points. You can almost always find one nearby. Some stations offer promotions or free charging during certain hours.

With the 46 kW DC-enabled Zoe, this is the ideal solution for recharging on the go or between trips.

Disadvantages.

Charging rates can vary significantly, especially between AC and DC charging. This makes it difficult to know where to charge at once. However, special apps can help you find the best station nearby.
