Measuring 4,840 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width and 1,560 mm in height, it’s just the right size to be comfortable in the city, yet not feel cramped or ‘tight’ on the motorway. It doesn’t take up half a parking space at the supermarket, and its wing mirrors don’t scrape against every other car in a traffic jam.

The 2,930 mm wheelbase – one of the longest in its class – ensures a smooth ride and good stability. The car doesn’t ‘bounce’ over bumps in the tarmac, but glides smoothly along the road, holding its line confidently even at 110–120 km/h. This is particularly noticeable when overtaking – there is no excessive body roll or jerky steering response.

As for ground clearance – 140 mm sounds modest, but thanks to the e-Platform 3.0 and adaptive suspension, this isn’t a problem. The Song L isn’t designed for driving on clay-covered potholes, but it handles kerbs, speed bumps and poor-quality tarmac with ease. Within the realities of urban Ukraine, that’s quite sufficient.

Battery. They all have the same one – the Blade Battery with a capacity of 87.04 kWh. It is integrated into the e-Platform 3.0 and is considered one of the safest in its class. Supported by fast charging – 80% in half an hour.

Security and electronics: everything you need and more

The DiPilot driver assistance system includes:

Charging in Ukrainian conditions

In terms of charging infrastructure, BYD Song L is fully prepared for Ukrainian realities. The car is equipped with a CCS2 port, which is compatible with most public charging stations in cities and along highways. It also supports both AC and DC charging, which allows you to flexibly use both your home wallbox and fast charging if you need to replenish your range urgently.

The car comes with a standard Type 2 cable for AC power. It is sufficient to connect to a home or office station with a power output of up to 11-22 kW. The battery is fully charged overnight, which is more than enough for daily trips. For accelerated charging from DC, BYD claims to charge up to 80% in about 30 minutes if the station supports a power output of more than 120 kW.
